IgE myeloma: total body tumor cell number and synthesis of IgE and DNA.
Studies of myeloma cell DNA and immunoglobulin synthesis and total body tumor cell number were performed on a patient with IgE multiple myeloma and plasma cell leukemia; results were contrasted to similar observations in patients with IgG myeloma. Autoradiographic studies demonstrated significantly greater DNA labeling in the IgE patient’s bone marrow plasma cells than in cells from IgG myeloma...
متن کاملImmunoglobulin synthesis and total body tumor cell number in IgG multiple myeloma.
Studies of synthesis of IgG paraproteins were performed in 10 patients who had IgG myeloma in order to quantitate cellular immunosynthetic functions and derive estimates of the number of tumor cells present in such patients. Serial in vitro studies demonstrated constancy in the cellular rate of IgG paraprotein secretion for up to 8 months. Average molecular synthesis rates in different patients...
متن کاملIgE myeloma associated with plasma cell leukaemia.
A patient presented with plasma cell leukaemia and was found to have an IgE secreting multiple myeloma. IgE myeloma is very rare with only 18 cases recorded. However, this case is the fifth recorded of IgE myeloma associated with plasma cell leukaemia. Since plasma cell leukaemia only occurs in 1.6% of all cases of myeloma, it seems certain that this is a significant association.
متن کاملIgE myeloma with osteoblastic lesions.
A 69-yr-old man with persistent anemia had multiple myeloma with an IgE-type kappa M component and Bence Jones proteinuria. Bone x-rays revealed occasional lytic lesions associated with a diffuse sclerotic reaction throughout the skeleton. Special bone histologic studies utilizing tetracycline labeling, undercalcified sections, and microradiography confirmed active osteoblastic activity. This c...
متن کاملBiology of IgE production: IgE cell differentiation and the memory of IgE responses.
The generation of long-lived plasma cells and memory B cells producing high-affinity antibodies depends on the maturation of B cell responses in germinal centers. These processes are essential for long-lasting antibody-mediated protection against infections. IgE antibodies are important for defense against parasites and toxins and can also mediate anti-tumor immunity. However, high-affinity IgE...
